Leadership

Most people believe that leaders are born, not made. At Sea-Change Partners, we believe that every individual has the capacity for leadership. We think of leadership the activity, and not just as a role.  Leadership comprises both the ability to bring out the best in others and the ability to mobilise groups of people to accomplish tasks and achieve goals.  We know leadership skills are the product of a combination of personal characteristics, experiences, and of learning.

Leadership & Organisations

Leadership training has existed in different forms for centuries. Today it is most typically found in military institutions, government agencies, and business schools. While exact estimates vary, research shows clearly that after high-end, practical training, participants perceive that their leadership performance improves considerably, and that the improvements in performance are further increased when training is combined with one-on-one coaching.
While leadership training alone might not be enough to transform an organization, it is clear that improved leadership performance is often a key to an organizations’ success.

Skilled leaders

  • attract the best talent and increase employee retention,
  • improve morale, and
  • inspire and facilitate better performance.

At Sea-Change, we trust the clear scientific evidence that shows that leadership CAN be learned – and enhanced through training, coaching, and assessment.

This workshop focuses on understanding these skills and equipping participants with practical and effective ways to increase their abilities to apply them with results, as they exercise leadership.

Peak Performance and Self-Sabotage

This psychologically-intense workshop introduces participants to their own competing commitments and behaviors that can lead to immunity to change. It helps them uncover ways in which they hinder their own growth and leads them to actualize their own potential.

The Art of Feedback

Managers live and die by their capacity to give and solicit feedback skilfully. Rules and tips on leadership may suffice when enhancing one’s own leadership performance. However, learning how to learn from others and being able  productively to develop the skills of our colleagues through feedback is one hallmark of a truly effective leader.

Dangers in Teamwork

Teamwork can be both rewarding and dangerous.  Teamwork can also be productive, or a waste of resources. There have been instances of elections being lost, companies failing, and even wars starting because of the hidden dangers within teamwork. This highly interactive workshop examines some of the most important issues that arise in teamwork and builds the capacity of participants to be aware of — and protect against — them.

Sea-Change professionals are among Asia’s most expert leadership coaches.  Every top athlete in the world depends on a professional coach, and it is the best athletes who benefit the most from good coaching.  We offer focused coaching for individual professionals in order to enhance their leadership skills, improve their performance with their teams, maintain higher levels of enthusiasm, and achieve better bottom-line results.  Sea-Change has a team of experienced professionals who will develop and implement a customized program of leadership coaching and strategic assistance, in consultation with our clients.

Our coaching programs include initial baseline needs assessments; to align the coaching sessions with our clients’ learning objectives, to assess a leader’s strengths and areas of need, and to set appropriate targets for improvement.  We then ensure that our coaches help leaders get the most out of themselves by being skilled and effective – and by having well-designed strategies for dealing with the leadership challenges they face.

Our coaching sessions usually include a mix of focused skills training, applied work on – and preparation for — real challenges, assisted practice in simulations and role-plays, and assessments, feedback and reporting.  Sessions can be scheduled to accommodate our clients’ needs and schedules.  Typical sessions are a half day (3 hours of coaching), and we work with our clients to determine the most appropriate setting.  Depending on the challenges they face, some clients benefit from a formal, structured environment, such as their own workplace, while others benefit more from an informal setting, away from the office.

Sea-Change consultants are able to offer the use of several psychometric and other tools to enhance and complement that various services offered. A selection of the better-known tools we offer are the following:

  • The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI),
  • The Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation – Behavior (FIRO-B),
  • Multiple 360 feedback tools, including fully customized versions.

Some of these tools can be customised to help our clients meet their specific learning and assessment objectives.
